The European Payments Alliance reaches over 100 million users across 10 European countries

Lisbon, 12 November 2025 – The EuroPA Alliance (European Payments Alliance) once again took center stage at the Web Summit, with a panel featuring leading representatives of the mobile payment solutions participating in the initiative. EuroPA was created to reshape the European digital payments landscape through the development of an interoperable, secure and fully sovereign ecosystem.

The mobile payment solutions Bancomat Pay (Italy), Bizum (Spain and Andorra), Blik (Poland), Dias/Iris (Greece), Sibs/MB WAY (Portugal) and Vipps MobilePay (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden) mark a new milestone for the Alliance, with the entry of Blik and Vipps MobilePay and the completion of the first cross-border transactions between the different solutions.

Already at the 2024 edition of the Web Summit, Sibs/MB WAY, together with Bancomat and Bizum, had enabled the first instant cross-border transactions based on European infrastructures and standards.

Since June 2025, users of these three solutions have been able to send money in real time to users of the other platforms, simply using their mobile phone number and payment app, within a secure and trusted digital environment.

The extension of interoperability to new European areas further strengthens EuroPA’s role as a driver of European sovereignty in digital payments.

Thanks to the new members of the Alliance, the convenience and security of digital payments now reach over 100 million users across 10 European countries, achieving the objective of promoting a common and interoperable infrastructure for payments in Europe.

About EuroPA

EuroPA was established through the collaboration between Bancomat (Italy), Bizum (Spain) and Sibs/MB WAY (Portugal), with the goal of making the main national mobile payment solutions interoperable. Since its creation, the Alliance has progressively expanded to include Blik (Poland, Slovakia and Romania), Dias/Iris (Greece) and Vipps MobilePay (Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland).

Today, the platforms that are part of EuroPA represent over 100 million users and billions of transactions each year, positioning the initiative among the most relevant projects for the development of an integrated European digital payments network.
