The first ATM network is born in Italy
In 1983, the first automatic withdrawal network was introduced in Italy, revolutionizing the way Italians access cash. With ATMs, withdrawing money became simple, fast, and available throughout the country.
1995
The first PagoBANCOMAT card arrives
The introduction of the PagoBANCOMAT network marks a key milestone in the evolution of electronic payments in Italy. For the first time, millions of Italians can make payments directly with their card, without the need for cash.
2008
The BANCOMAT consortium is born
With the goal of unifying and consolidating payment networks, the BANCOMAT Consortium was established. This transformation ensures greater security, efficiency, and centralized management of electronic transactions.
2017
BANCOMAT becomes a joint-stock company
BANCOMAT further evolves, becoming a joint-stock company (S.p.A.). This decision strengthens the corporate structure and allows for increased investment in innovation and the development of new payment solutions.
