Sport Illumina: the first sports space inaugurated in Cologno Monzese

On 16 March 2026, the first sports space created as part of the Sport Illumina project was inaugurated in Cologno Monzese, at the park in Via Pablo Neruda. The initiative was conceived by Sport e Salute and promoted by the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi.

The project aims to promote free and inclusive access to physical activity through the regeneration of urban areas and the creation of new spaces dedicated to sport and social interaction. The Cologno Monzese facility represents the first initiative within a broader programme that envisages the development of 85 facilities across Italy.

Bancomat contributed to the realisation of the initiative as the space activator, reaffirming its commitment to supporting projects that generate social value and promote the well-being of local communities.

The new multifunctional area includes a 3x3 basketball court, a calisthenics area and a climbing wall, offering citizens – particularly younger people – a new point of reference for outdoor sports, socialising and community engagement.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi and the Mayor of Cologno Monzese, together with local sports associations, schools and Team Illumina ambassadors, highlighting the strong social and participatory value of the initiative.
