BANCOMAT, in partnership with Sport e Salute, unveils the new “Illumina” sports facility in Guidonia Montecelio
A project supported by BANCOMAT for sports, inclusion, and local community development
Guidonia Montecelio, July 1, 2026 – A new “Illumina” facility—a modern, inclusive, and functional sports and recreational space—was inaugurated today in Guidonia Montecelio. This project, funded by the Minister for Sport and Youth and implemented by Sport e Salute with the support of BANCOMAT, Italy’s most widely used and recognized payment network, aims to drive concrete, lasting change. The partnership focuses on redeveloping 85 urban spaces across Italy and strengthening the role of sports in communities as a catalyst for personal growth and social cohesion.
The new “Illumina” space in Guidonia, which features both basketball and volleyball courts, is designed as an open and accessible hub for sports and social interaction. It embodies the vision of the national “Illumina” project, created to return public spaces to citizens as centers for athletics and community life. The inauguration was attended by the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi; Sport e Salute President Marco Mezzaroma and CEO Diego Nepi Molineris; BANCOMAT Chief Marketing & Communication Officer Vittorio Silva; Guidonia Mayor Mauro Lombardo; and local community organizations.
Conceived by Sport e Salute, the project found an enthusiastic partner in BANCOMAT—a company that supports Italians and their passions every day. BANCOMAT has been instrumental in bringing “Illumina” spaces to life, providing a tangible response to citizens' needs and fostering local development through collaborative efforts with institutions and local areas. Every project is the result of direct dialogue with the community, from selecting the sports disciplines to the design of the facilities themselves.
“We believe that a company is, first and foremost, a social actor operating within the community. The Illumina project is a concrete demonstration of this vision, contributing to the creation of accessible, shared spaces that foster inclusion, participation, and well-being. For us, initiatives like this are a tangible way to stay close to communities and support their development,” said Fabrizio Burlando, CEO of BANCOMAT.
