BANCOMAT welcomes Hercle to the EUR.BANK initiative

‍

• The collaboration will support the development of the stablecoin ecosystem and the launch of a pilot project focused on global payments.

• The BANCOMAT ecosystem will be able to extend the reach of its euro-denominated stablecoin beyond European borders.

Milan, October 29, 2026 – BANCOMAT, Italy’s leading domestic payment network, announces that Hercle, a global provider of infrastructure for stablecoin treasury management and cross-border payments, has joined EUR.BANK, its euro-denominated stablecoin project designed for the banking system. The collaboration comes ahead of EUR.BANK’s upcoming commercial launch and further strengthens the development of a dedicated, open and interoperable ecosystem, fully integrated with the banking system.

Once the regulatory authorization process has been completed, the initiative aims to expand the potential applications of BANCOMAT’s stablecoin by leveraging Hercle’s infrastructure and licenses as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) and Electronic Money Institution (EMI), while encouraging its adoption among banks, businesses and other market participants. Once operational, the solution will provide comprehensive access to blockchain-based infrastructure and services through a network built on shared rules and firmly anchored in the European banking system.

Hercle is the first Italian fintech to join the ecosystem. It will provide essential connectivity layers for liquidity management, multi-currency conversions and integration between banking systems, including those in emerging markets, digital assets and blockchain infrastructure. This includes potential applications in cross-border payments, aimed at streamlining and optimizing value transfers across different markets and jurisdictions. Through Hercle, the BANCOMAT ecosystem will be able to extend the reach of its euro-denominated stablecoin beyond European borders, connecting to global liquidity pools, counterparties and international markets.

Under this model, euro-denominated transactions will remain directly connected to the banking system, while participating financial institutions and other operators will benefit from connectivity and access to global opportunities without the need to develop dedicated infrastructure. Participants in the EUR.BANK project, which has already involved nine major banking institutions in an issuance pilot, will be able to adopt either the entire solution or individual components, seamlessly integrating them into their existing services. Furthermore, they will have access not only to a stablecoin, but also to the infrastructure and services needed to offer comprehensive, end-to-end solutions to businesses and consumers.

Fabrizio Burlando, CEO of BANCOMAT, said:

Hercle’s entry into the EUR.BANK ecosystem represents an important step forward in the development of our stablecoin project. This collaboration will enable us to strengthen the infrastructure and services supporting the project, expanding its potential applications, including in international payments. Our goal is to build an open and interoperable ecosystem, fully integrated with the banking system, capable of combining blockchain innovation with the reliability of traditional financial infrastructure. This initiative helps lay the groundwork for the next phase of EUR.BANK’s development ahead of its commercial launch.

Gabriele Sabbatini, CEO and Co-Founder of Hercle, commented:

Connecting institutional finance with next-generation digital asset infrastructure requires robust channels and strict regulatory alignment. Our collaboration with BANCOMAT on EUR.BANK validates our vision: enabling institutions to enhance their cross-border payment capabilities and access global, multi-currency stablecoin liquidity without compromising regulatory compliance or operational security.
