The BANCOMAT network relies on a national infrastructure. This enables greater operational efficiency, direct control of flows, and transparent management of interchange conditions between banks.
BANCOMAT is an Italian payment network that regulates transactions in collaboration with the Bank of Italy. It offers banks a reliable, certified, and alternative solution to international networks.
BANCOMAT is the digital currency of our country: secure, reliable, and close to everyday needs. A choice that supports the national economy and looks to the future.
Interbank fees are the amounts exchanged between payment service providers—issuers and acquirers—that participate in a payment network.
For a payment transaction, the interbank fee is paid by the acquirer to the issuer, while for a withdrawal transaction, the interbank fee is paid by the issuer to the acquirer.
Interbank Fees are exchanged when a withdrawal or payment is made across institutions, meaning when the ATM and/or POS are operated by a bank or institution different from the one that issued the card.
For each withdrawal transaction under the BANCOMAT brand in cross-institution use, the acquirer receives from the issuer a Multilateral Interbank Fee, with a maximum value of €0.47 per withdrawal.
From July 1, 2025, the fees indicated in the tables below will apply.
A partnership to expand payment opportunities in Italy. Thanks to the collaboration with Discover Global Network, BANCOMAT enables holders of Discover, Diners Club International, and other affiliated network cards to make payments and withdrawals at merchants and ATMs in Italy.
