TEDxRoma presents “Third Self”

Rome, January 5, 2023 - The first digital revolution led man to be connected to machines and to observe a new mode of his mechanical capacity to interact with the outside world. Man doubled his ability, delegated some functions, but controlled the objects of his technological choices. It is in this context that Sherry Turkle, in 1984, theorized the Second Self. Today, the virtual and interconnected world in which we live is already increasing in a widespread way the prospect of developing a new self: the third self. This will be the theme at the center of the seventh edition of TEDxRoma 2023, which will welcome many of the great thinkers and visionaries of our time and will try to answer some of the multiple questions that technological progress - which seems to us to be both liberation and condemnation of modern man - asks us on a daily basis.
