EMPSA — Family & Friends ATM Pay

PRESS RELEASE: In order to face the technological evolution and the strong competitiveness of the payment market, BANCOMAT S.p.A. has embarked on an important evolutionary path, continuing its commitment to the strategy of interoperability between partner circuits at European level.

As is known, BANCOMAT S.p.a has become a member of EMPSA (European Mobile Payment Systems Association) since its foundation in 2019 and has created, also in the wake of the proposals represented in the “White Paper on retail payments in Europe for the near future” - an interoperable solution that allows the creation of P2B payment transactions using the BANCOMAT Pay® service at German merchants affiliated with the Bluecode circuit.

The interoperability model is based on the preservation of the standards used in the domestic environment within its acceptance network, and on the extension of the authorization network through the use of a central Bridge that offers interoperability functions.

The project initiative is inspired by the European Football Championship sporting event, which will begin on 14 June 2024, and will allow the acceptance of the BANCOMAT Pay service at merchants affiliated with the Bluecode circuit in the “fan zones” of the football event. At first, therefore, the transactions will see the BANCOMAT Members involved for the Issuing part and Bluecode for the Acquiring activities.
