BANCOMAT enables PagoBancomat cards on Apple Pay for contactless payments with iPhone and Apple Watch

June 26, 2024 - Thanks to the collaboration between Apple and BANCOMAT S.p.A., starting today, holders of a PagoBancomat card issued by a bank in the Intesa Sanpaolo Group will be able to digitize their card on the Apple Pay payment wallet to make contactless payments in authorized stores, using the iPhone or Apple watch.

With the launch of this new service, BANCOMAT S.p.A. is taking a significant step forward in expanding its digital offering. This development is in line with the strategy launched in recent years, aimed at creating new technological assets and launching initiatives aimed at satisfying the emerging needs of Italian consumers.

Following the example of other national circuits in Europe, the digitization of the PagoBancomat card in the Apple Pay wallet offers Italian consumers a greater choice of their preferred payment method, complying with the highest security standards guaranteed by the Apple solution.

Activation and Use

To activate the PagoBancomat card in the Apple Pay wallet, consumers have several options available. They can choose to dematerialize the card by entering the data directly into the Apple Pay wallet or to load it through their bank's app.

The use during the payment phase is simple and intuitive, reflecting the experience of using contactless payments with a physical card. To pay with iPhone, just press the side button twice to open the wallet, authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID or unlock code, and bring the device closer to the terminal.
